Tom Royal’s tea and kittens make me have a little faith in the internet again. If all the attention seeking trash and other crap was removed from the net, and stuff like tea and kittens was rampant instead…that and funny shit like people of walmart, subway douchery, and lamebook.com it would rock. it would be perfeckshunz!
First of all, here is a kitten watching Nyan Cat:
Now, other business - the winners of our rather lovely Free Tea competition! We asked you to compose a haiku, and the five best were (in no particular order, they’re all great):
@jegtnes:
i am super sad / i have no kittens or tea / please…
Someday, I’m going to go on a 1-month hiatus from posting pictures of Asian girls. I hate the whole white-guy with Asian girlfriend “thing”. And it’s totally a thing btw.
And I still hate flip flops.
i actually find the asian girls/western of whatever kind guys thing cute…the only thing i don’t find cute is when they decide to make the subway/street/whatever public place their own hotel room and start making out/kissing/you know what i mean shit, no matter what race they’re with. but then again, it doesn’t matter what race ur, i don’t need to or want to see u making out or getting romantic on the subway, sidewalk, or anywhere else. keep that shit private and behind ur bedroom door/in your house/out of my view only. if i see it, i WILL puke on you, and with GOOD reason. i don’t need that public display, and i’m NOT jealous. i’m in a healhty relationship and don’t need to show off. besides, how can they both enjoy flirting when they KNOW deep down that both people have been doing this to others…it’s like kissing a public toilet seat. not cute. at all….. u want NAS-TEE, however? u get a western culture girl with an asian, middle eastern or south asian (indian/paki/sri lankan/bangladeshi/etc) guy. that is disgusting. that’s a big thing now too, especially on the net where they feel they can have creative liscence to show off their look at me in indian clothes pretending im in love with this dude n the culture crap. they are pathetic.
i always wanted a pair of the biggest jncos. when i was in school, they started with guys…guys and airwalk, stussy, rusty, etc. shirts. then girls started to wear them. EVERYONE wore ‘em. girls paired them with baby doll tops (the tight fitted tees you kids know today, not the shirts that look like maternity tops, tho i heart them too.) , tshirts, etc. and added funky shoes…..dr martins were a big fav, or maybe bowling shoes, plastic airwalks, any kind of airwalks…it was a competition between airwalks and dr. martins, or soemtimes you interchanged them. heavy jewellry - lots of rings, bracelets of all kinds, even rubber kiddie party favour ones with studs, odd piercings, funky hair…or even just simply dying ur hair pitch black n wearing black lipstick maybe nail polish. your outfit could be rainbow coloured but black hair n lisptick. u were the THE bitch then! im not black, and am only part white (im india indian/mongolian/white mix and straight female), but i still couldn’t afford a single pair. i wanted the buddhas, but with the biggest leg size available. i remember a girl in my school having beatles patches on a pair. wanted them so bad. those jeans n the tshirts, if u could find them, pre internet days made u cool and in style so easily, and so effortlessly, and it was an eternal fashion…like bellbottoms and long skirts. bewild.com has some mammoths for sale, but i dont find the legs wide enough. i got some kikwear jnco knockoff’s from them last year. i got their 42 inchers n i love ‘em. im glad that im older n the whole omg u got a KNOCKOFF of jnco’s u suck era is over. yet, i still miss some of the innocence from the days gone by. i wear my 42 inchers around new york city, just as i would have as a kid. i like seeing the guys in tight pants cuz u can have some interesting fantasies on the subway and elsewhere (squeeee) but i miss these jeans. they were comfort defined.
I have noticed alot of places sell yogi tea and some even carry their cereal brand as well. I am a Sikh, and am indian, (not the ‘3h0’ cult that puts out this cereal, and want everyone to be aware, because this stuff needs to be boycotted. I know alot of people are fans of their stuff because it supposedly tastes good, but i wanted you to be aware of what REALLY happens when you buy their products, especially when they claim they are doing so much good for society. I have included more information relating to sikhism, and to indian culture, but i want to make it clear that my intent is NOT to discuss interracial marriage, or promote my religion/try to convert anyone, or any else of that kind of crap. So please refrain from having anything to with it in the comments, unless you have genuine questions abut my faith which i am happy to answer. my intention was to give u a background story and make u aware of the truth behind yogi products and those associated with it, nothing more. Thanks…
3 H O Sikhs - most visible by their white outfits, and go by various prefixes like Shri, Hari, Aum/Om, Guru Deva ( often combining Hindu and Punjabi names out of ignorance) etc; often with names such as Amrit, Snatam, etc. (Though is not ALWAYS a sign, as some true Sikhs also have names such as Amrit. Look for other stereotypes and signs, especially as they will have limited association to Punjabi culture, unless to exploit and /or mock it, some even saying it has no connection to Sikhi.)
What they do exploits both westerners and easterners by taking compromise of westerners’ fickle, materialistic, ego driven vices and and using them to take advantage of and seem superior to the overly trusting easterners so as to lure and trap them to use them for their evil deceives. They indulge in the easterner’s will until it is fully taken advantage of, and most often when it is too late. This is the case with both the 3ho cult and the western girls who marry Desi, Asians, or Middle Eastern people, except with the romantic relations, it’s done one a smaller ( one or a few people instead of a large community) yet equally destructive, false, and dangerous scale.

They are what is called a cult - a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader. It was started by Yogi Bhajan but his real name is something else. He was a small time criminal until he was hired by the Indian government to start a cult and dress it up as Sikh cult to break the Khalistan movement up (divide and conquer) in 1960s, 1970s, 1980’s, and beyond until his death. Anyway he converted a few thousand white (Gora) cult members who treat him as the their unofficial 11th Guru. He gave them Amrit but they don’t keep all the 5 Ks or do 5 bani - the prayers everyday (which is mandatory) and they believe in and teach tantric yoga and other Hindu beliefs. They are considered a dangerous cult that is trying to change the Sikh religion into Hinduism by trying to become its leadership. During the 1980s they were very hostile and negative against the Khalistan movement for a independent Sikh state Khalistan (because they were & are funded secretly by the Indian government to break the Khalistan movement up (divide and conquer). They belong to the ‘new age’ movement - see here for more info - wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Age . (New age religions are basically fanatic groups, with ideas taken from mainstream religions, then transformed into groups with ideas which sounds like they were on drugs, going on about false spiritual philosophies, for example, how the auras of the body will transcend the soul to various places if you do this or that, or how you can achieve enlightenment by doing some really strange technique. These were stemmed by the hippie movements of the 60’s, and were fueled by western stereotypical ideas of eastern religions.) They Also run the Miriri Piri academy - miripiriacademy.org/ . Obsessive especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing. ‘All forms of Yoga are based on an ancient science, starting in the east. Yoga means to “yoke” or “unite” in Sanskrit. Yoga has therefore been a way for the finite (human) to connect to the Finite (God) Its a way to connect with our higher self, and a realm beyond the physical body.
It is believed, that in every body, dormant Kundalini energy lies in the base of the spine. There are 2 nerve channels at the central nerve of the spinal column. These are called the IDA (lunar, negative energy) and the PINGALA (solar, positive energy. Each of them make 2 and a half turns around the central column of the spine, called the sushmana, as they begin to spiral up the spine. These 2 nerve channels act as conductirs of Kundalini energy that feeds the entire nervous system.
Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga, the trapped energy is stimulated and allowed to flow, reaching the skull, activating the secretion of the pineal gland. The pineal controls the nucleus projection of every cell in the body. To go into further detail, would be to describe the undescribable, Kundalini Yoga is all about experience

I am amazed at how many idiots will come to me and try till they are blue in the face to tell me why kundalini yoga has a respectful association with sikhism. thankfully i have also had others who are wise enough to know better. here’s the basic rundown -
first off , this is what kundalini yoga is -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini_yoga
According to yogic philosophy, the kundalini is a spiritual energy or life force located at the base of the spine. It is conceptualized as a coiled up serpent (literally, ‘kundalini’ in Sanskrit is ‘that which is coiled.’ Sanskrit kund, “to burn”; kunda, “to coil or to spiral”).
In the classical literature of Kashmir Saivism kundalini is described in three different manifestations. The first of these is as the universal energy or para-kundalini. The second of these is as the energizing function of the body-mind complex or prana-kundalini. The third of these is as consciousness or shakti-kundalini which simultaneously subsumes and intermediates between these two. Ultimately these three forms are the same but understanding these three different forms will help to understand the different manifestations of kundalini .[8]
The path of Kundalini is said to proceed from the Muladhara Chakra at the lower end of the spinal column up to the Sahasara Chakra at the top of the head. But its awakening is not thought to be a physical occurrence; it consists exclusively of a development in consciousness. According to some sources, awakening of kundalini brings with it pure joy, pure knowledge and pure love.[4][9]
The word ‘Kundalini’ can be traced to the Sanskrit word ‘kundala’, which means ‘coiled’. Kundalini can therefore be used to refer to the latent energy within the human body which is constantly trying to manifest as our insight, power and bliss. [10] According to one source, the word kundalini literally means “the curl of the lock of hair of the beloved.”.[11][12] It is a metaphor, a poetic way of describing the flow of energy and consciousness which already is said to exist within each person. The practices are said to enable the person to merge with or “yoke” the universal self. This merging of individual consciousness with the universal consciousness is said to create a “divine union” called “yoga”.[13]
wikipedia.org/wiki/Kundalini_energy
Kundalini (kuṇḍalinī, Sanskrit: कुण्डलिनी) literally means coiled. In yoga, a “corporeal energy”[1] - an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force or Shakti, lies coiled at the base of the spine.[2][3][4] It is envisioned either as a goddess or else as a sleeping serpent, hence a number of English renderings of the term such as ‘serpent power’. The kundalini resides in the sacrum bone in three and a half coils and has been described as a residual power of pure desire.[5]
Kundalini is described as a sleeping, dormant potential force in the human organism.[6] It is one of the components of an esoteric description of man’s ‘subtle body’, which consists of nadis (energy channels), chakras (psychic centres), prana (subtle energy), and bindu (drops of essence).
Kundalini is described as being coiled up at the base of the spine, usually within muladhara chakra. The image given is that of a serpent coiled 3 and a half times around a smokey grey lingam. Each coil is said to represent one of the 3 gunas, with the half coil signifying transcendence.
Through meditation, and various esoteric practices, such as laya-yoga,[7] and kriya yoga, the kundalini is awakened, and can rise up through the central nadi, called sushumna, that rises up inside or alongside the spine. The progress of kundalini through the different chakras leads to different levels of awakening and mystical experience, until the kundalini finally reaches the top of the head, Sahasrara chakra, producing an extremely profound mystical experience.
Meaning
A number of descriptions exist that attempt to describe exactly what the kundalini experience is.
Sri Ramana Maharshi maintained that the kundalini energy is nothing but the natural energy of the Self, where Self is the universal consciousness (Paramatma) present in every being, and that the individual mind of thoughts cloaks this natural energy from unadulterated expression. Advaita teaches that Self-realization, enlightenment, God-consciousness, nirvana and kundalini awakening are all the same thing, and self-inquiry meditation is considered a very natural and simple means of reaching this goal.[8]
Swami Vivekananda described kundalini briefly in London during his lectures on Raja Yoga as follows:[9]
“According to the Yogis, there are two nerve currents in the spinal column, called Pingala and Ida, and a hollow canal called Sushumna running through the spinal cord. At the lower end of the hollow canal is what the Yogis call the “Lotus of the kundalini”. They describe it as triangular in form in which, in the symbolical language of the Yogis, there is a power called the kundalini, coiled up. When that kundalini awakes, it tries to force a passage through this hollow canal, and as it rises step by step, as it were, layer after layer of the mind becomes open and all the different visions and wonderful powers come to the Yogi. When it reaches the brain, the Yogi is perfectly detached from the body and mind; the soul finds itself free. We know that the spinal cord is composed in a peculiar manner. If we take the figure eight horizontally (∞) there are two parts which are connected in the middle. Suppose you add eight after eight, piled one on top of the other, that will represent the spinal cord. The left is the Ida, the right Pingala, and that hollow canal which runs through the centre of the spinal cord is the Sushumna. Where the spinal cord ends in some of the lumbar vertebrae, a fine fibre issues downwards, and the canal runs up even within that fibre, only much finer. The canal is closed at the lower end, which is situated near what is called the sacral plexus, which, according to modern physiology, is triangular in form. The different plexuses that have their centres in the spinal canal can very well stand for the different “lotuses” of the Yogi.”
[edit] Etymology
According to well-known teacher and translator Eknath Easwaran, kundalini means “the coiled power,” a force which ordinarily rests at the base of the spine, described as being coiled there like a serpent.[10]
According to Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, the term “kundalini” is based on several words and has several meanings. The word ending with “i” indicates that it relates to the feminine principle and deals with a form of Shakti (energy) and Prakriti (nature).[11] “Kunda” is a hole or well into which all debris and rubbish is thrown. In time the rubbish loses its original form and disintegrates into a formless mesh in which the individual components are no longer recognizable. In a similar way, our impressions from earlier lives lie like an amorphous substance deep in the unconscious (Muladhara Chakra).[11] “Kundala” means the ring and is generally used to refer to an earring in Sanskrit. The other roots of kundalini are “kundala” the serpent, and “kala” the time or death. In Indian mythology Lord Vishnu rests on a thousand-headed snake and sends out the first vibration (Sphurna), from which the entire Universe evolves.[11]
[edit] Awakening of the kundalini
Yoga and Tantra propose that kundalini energy can be “awakened” by a guru (teacher), but body and spirit must be prepared by yogic austerities such as pranayama, or breath control, physical exercises, visualization, and chanting. The kundalini can also awaken as a result of doing hatha yoga or other forms of spiritual practice, and sometimes it can awaken spontaneously, for no obvious reason.[12]
Kundalini can be awakened through the grace of a Siddha-Guru who awakens the kundalini shakti of his disciple through shaktipat, or blessing. A Siddha Guru is a spiritual teacher, a master, whose identification with the supreme Self is uninterrupted.[13] Like every form of energy one must also learn to understand spiritual energy. According to Hindu tradition, in order to be able to integrate this spiritual energy, a period of careful purification and strengthening of the body and nervous system is usually required beforehand.[11]
Some schools of yoga also teach that the kundalini can be awakened through spiritual practices such as hatha yoga and meditation, rather than via shaktipat.[14] Additionally, spontaneous awakenings can occur, often triggered by intense personal experiences such as accidents, near death experiences, childbirth, emotional trauma and so on. Sometimes awakenings seem to occur for no obvious reason at all. Some sources attribute spontaneous awakenings to the “grace of God”, or possibly to spiritual practice in past lives.
The kundalini rises from muladhara chakra up a subtle channel at the base of the spine (called Sushumna), and from there to top of the head merging with the sahasrara, or crown chakra. When kundalini Shakti is conceived as a goddess, then, when it rises to the head, it unites itself with the Supreme Being (Lord Shiva). Then the aspirant becomes engrossed in deep meditation and infinite bliss.[15][16]
The arousing of kundalini is said by some to be the one and only way of attaining Divine Wisdom. Self-Realization is said to be equivalent to Divine Wisdom or Gnosis or what amounts to the same thing: self-knowledge.[17] The awakening of the kundalini shows itself as “awakening of inner knowledge” and brings with itself “pure joy, pure knowledge and pure love.”[11]
[edit] Physical effects
Physical effects are believed to be a sign of kundalini awakening by some,[18] but described as unwanted side effects pointing to a problem rather than progress by others.[11] According to a 1985 article by David T. Eastman in Yoga Journal, some of the more common signs and symptoms of an awakened kundalini include:
* Involuntary jerks, tremors or shaking
* Intense heat, especially as energy is experienced passing through the chakras
* Spontaneous pranayama, asanas, mudras and bandhas
* Visions or sounds at times associated with a particular chakra
* Intense feelings of pleasure
* Emotional purgings in which particular emotions become dominant for short periods of time.[19]
Reports about the Sahaja Yoga technique of kundalini awakening suggest the practice can result in a cool breeze felt on the fingertips as well as on the fontanel bone area.[5][20] One study has measured a drop in temperature on the palms of the hands resulting from this technique.[18]
[edit] Vedanta view on kundalini, Tantra and Sex
Tantra is the worship of Shakti, the divine mother.[21] Shakti is also referred to as Prakriti, or primordial nature. To ensure that nature (Prakriti) would always maintain the connection to the divine original consciousness (Purusha), the force of attraction developed as an aspect of Prakriti. The desire for union and the striving for expansion are “natural”; they are intrinsic impulses of nature.[22] Other terms for Purusha and Prakriti are Shiva and Shakti. Shiva is the symbol for consciousness and the masculine principle, Shakti symbolizes energy and the feminine principle.[23] The meaning of Shiva and Shakti is sometimes misunderstood when they are looked upon as man and woman and their relation is regarded as sexual.[23]
[edit] Comparisons with other religious systems
[edit] Vajrayana Buddhism
The tantras of Vajrayana manage a system which is very similar to the Indian systems of kundalini yoga, in that they too manage a series of subtle channels, subtle winds, wheels and subtle drops, and they refer to a force known as kandali which must be raised up the central channel. However, there are a number of differences. Firstly, the descriptions are mostly about ‘red bodhicitta’, that resides in the lower chakras, and ‘white bodhicitta’, that resides in the crown. The ‘inner fire’ is ignited, through practices such as Tummo, which causes all the winds in the body to enter and rise up the central channel. When the fire reaches the crown of the head, the white bodhicitta melts and flows down to the lower chakras, producing profound spiritual experiences of bliss and emptiness.[24]
This practice of ‘inner fire’ is seen as a preliminary yoga to a further set of practices; obtaining the ‘Illusory body’, and obtaining the ‘Clear Light’, as well as practices such as dream yoga, and consciousness projection.
[edit] Western interpretation
Kundalini is considered an interaction of the subtle body along with chakra energy centers and nadis channels. Each chakra is said to contain special characteristics [25] and with proper training, moving kundalini energy ‘through’ these chakras can help express or open these characteristics.
Sir John Woodroffe (pen name Arthur Avalon) was one of the first to bring the notion of kundalini to the West. As High Court Judge in Calcutta, he became interested in Shaktism and Hindu Tantra. His translation of and commentary on two key texts was published as The Serpent Power. Woodroffe rendered kundalini as “Serpent Power” for lack of a better term in the English language but “kundala” in Sanskrit means “coiled”.[26]
Western awareness of the idea of kundalini was strengthened by the Theosophical Society and the interest of the psychoanalyst Carl Jung (1875–1961)[2]. “Jung’s seminar on kundalini yoga, presented to the Psychological Club in Zurich in 1932, has been widely regarded as a milestone in the psychological understanding of Eastern thought. Kundalini yoga presented Jung with a model for the development of higher consciousness, and he interpreted its symbols in terms of the process of individuation”.[27]
Sri Aurobindo was the other great authority scholar on Kundalini parallel to Sir John Woodroffe, with a somewhat different viewpoint, according to Mary Scott (who is herself a later day scholar on Kundalini and its physical basis) and was a member of the theosophical society.[28]
Another populariser of the concept of kundalini among Western readers was Gopi Krishna. His autobiography is entitled Kundalini: The Evolutionary Energy in Man.[29] According to one writer his writings influenced Western interest in kundalini yoga.[30]
In the early 1930s two Italian scholars, Tommaso Palamidessi and Julius Evola, published several books with the intent of re-interpreting alchemy with reference to yoga.[31] Those works had an impact on modern interpretations of Alchemy as a mystical science. In those works, kundalini is called an Igneous Power or Serpentine Fire.
Other well-known spiritual teachers who have made use of the idea of kundalini include Swami Rudrananda (Rudi), Yogi Bhajan, Osho, George Gurdjieff, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Sivananda Radha who produced an English language guide of Kundalini Yoga methods, Swami Muktananda, Bhagawan Nityananda, Nirmala Srivastava (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi), Samael Aun Weor and Lord Sri Akshunna.
[edit] New Age
Kundalini references may commonly be found in a wide variety of derivative “New Age” presentations, such as Shirley MacLaine’s, and is a catchword that has been adopted by many new religious movements. However, some commentators, such as transpersonal psychologist Stuart Sovatsky, think that the association of Yogic Sanskrit terminology (chakras, kundalini, mantras, etc.) with the superficiality of new-age rhetoric is unfortunate.

Cautionary observations
All intensive spiritual practices associated with Asian traditions require attentive practice. Psychiatric literature[22] notes that “Since the influx of eastern spiritual practices and the rising popularity of meditation starting in 1960s, many people have experienced a variety of psychological difficulties, either while engaged in intensive spiritual practice or spontaneously”. Among the psychological difficulties associated with intensive spiritual practice we find “kundalini awakening”, “a complex physio-psychospiritual transformative process described in the yogic tradition”.[22] Also, writers in the fields of Transpersonal psychology[23] and Near-death studies[24][25] describe a complex pattern of sensory, motor, mental and affective symptoms associated within the concept of kundalini, known as kundalini syndrome. Often it will be found that negative experiences occur only when acting without appropriate guidance or ignoring advice

so what is it that is so wrong?
ok, first off, though it *is* true that there are references to yoga to a degree in our holy texts, real sikhs are not to take a religious attachment to the practice of yoga, such as the hindus. this was against the teachings of our gurus.
second, our gurus taught against the sexual nature of tantra, nor do (or should we at least) we believe in the energy connected to it, and said spiritual beliefs.)
third, true sikhs do not believe in an ‘aquarian age’, ‘age of pisces’, etc. nor do we do any summer or winter solstice worshipping. we also do not worship a devine mother. we see men and women as equal but we do not worship one over the other. we also do not share the same spiritual ideas, as we believe less in the ‘spiritual’ aspect in the sense associated with yoga. we do not focus more n a spiritual aspect, which can be misleading. our faith’s focus is moral conduct, respect, discipline, and common sense. our enlightenment comes from the respect of these things, and not allowing ourselves to be wooed by false pretense or by the panchadosh - 5 evils - Kam (Lust), Krodh (Rage), Lobh (Greed), Moh (Attachment) and Ahankar (ego). because the 3ho have incorperated some elements of real sikhism into their practice, it can be misleading, and those who are gullible will be brainwashed to believe they are doing right. true sikhs laugh at the foolishness of these hypocrates and try to teach others not to follow their false ways.
we also do NOT believe in ‘trinity roots’ or anything else for ‘spiritual energy.’ nor do we believe in ‘spiritual energy’ in the sense they take it. we also do not deal with chakras in this sense. (for real sikhs, A circular steel weapon; one of the symbols of Sikhism; depicted on the Nishan Sahib.)
also, though there are some sects who are strictly vegetarian, sikhs, even amritdhari sikhs CAN eat meat as long as it is not kutha.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism#Sikhism
Sikhism
Main article: Diet in Sikhism
The tenets of Sikhism do not advocate a particular stance on either vegetarianism or the consumption of meat,[130][131][132][133] but rather leave the decision of diet to the individual.[134] The tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh, however, prohibited “Amritdhari” Sikhs, or those that follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada (the Official Sikh Code of Conduct)[135] from eating Kutha meat, or meat which has been obtained from animals which have been killed in a ritualistic way. This is understood to have been for the political reason of maintaining independence from the then-new Muslim hegemony, as Muslims largely adhere to the ritualistic halal diet.[130][134]
“Amritdharis” that belong to some Sikh sects (e.g. Akhand Kirtani Jatha, Damdami Taksal, Namdhari,[136] Rarionwalay,[137] etc.) are vehemently against the consumption of meat and eggs (though they do consume and encourage the consumption of milk, butter, and cheese).[138] This vegetarian stance has been traced back to the times of the British Raj, with the advent of many new Vaishnava converts.[134] In response, to the varying views on diet throughout the Sikh population, Sikh Gurus have sought to clarify the Sikh view on diet, stressing their preference only for simplicity of diet. Guru Nanak said that over-consumption of food (Lobh, Greed) involves a drain on the Earth’s resources and thus on life.[139][140] Passages from the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of Sikhs, also known as the Adi Granth) say that it is “foolish” to argue for the superiority of animal life, because though all life is related, only human life carries more importance.
“Only fools argue whether to eat meat or not. Who can define what is meat and what is not meat? Who knows where the sin lies, being a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian?”[134]
The Sikh langar, or free temple meal, is largely lacto-vegetarian, though this is understood to be a result of efforts to present a meal that is respectful of the diets of any person who would wish to dine, rather than out of dogma.

another important note is that true sikhs do not follow a sect. sects do exist, but are not part of the sikhism our gurus prescribed. a sikh is a sikh and that’s the end of it, as long as they respect morals and their culture. this is a big issue with westerners who convert. they either convert to being sikh thinking they’ve found their enlightenment - but previously living a typical life of lust (open sex, possibly pornography, provacative dress, flirtatiousness, etc.), attentin seeking, and other examples f the 5 evils which sikhism is against, then suddenly pretend to be pure, or are born into the 3ho cult, and especially western women marry men who impress them with their act. while in the east, we don’t feel it’s *wrong* or *bad* if u wish to follow n eastern faith, but do it with respect. research the true faith, make sure that the beliefs and morals of the faith are ones u have followed honestly all your life, and follow it truly, but also respect ur own culture and teach ur own culture respect, and keep ur romantic activity to ur own culture (if ur western, this means black/white/latino is same culture).

We are now called to the unavoidable questions regarding our faith and culture which stand before us : What has happened to the old - order Sikhs who unshakably stood up for morals and our culture, and who were wise enough to know the difference between Sikhs, and false people with ill intent? What has happened to the Sikhs, both young and old, who, at the mere mention of 3 H O, or of others who would claim they were Sikh, but who proved to be false in some form or another - would laugh at you gently, and say ’ Don’t take those people seriously, they are not really Sikh.’ They would beautifully explain to you the difference between ‘3 H O’ and other fraudulent groups, and true Sikhs, also noting how they had seen these people in bars, or with cigarettes in the Gurdwara, or doing other shameful things. These days those Sikhs are extremely rare, and have been all but become obsolete next to the new brand of ‘Anything Goes’ Sikhism - anyone who pretends to be pure Sikh, is heralded, many Sikhs who take Amrit for show, shouting their patriotism loudly, but not following through in action, battle the few old - breed Sikhs who are still not afraid to point out the frauds are chastised by this new order of Sikhs. The current form of Sikhism is being eaten by its own self created Frankenstein monster. Also, the 3 H O are known to befriend an Indian cult called ‘Kookay’ or ‘Namdhari’, with similar intent, though the Kookay don’t take on the western styles of exploitation. They have their own anti Khalistani tactics, hell - bent on preventing Sikhs to have their own land of freedom from the terrors of the government, and others who try to destroy Sikhism. If our Sikhism DOES survive, thanks to the change in mind set and the trust in so many ‘snake oil sellers’ - the fakes who try to sell you purity, so that they can poison you and stab you in the back - it will be drastically changed and transformed into a very different, very false, dangerous, and self - destructive vehicle. We must work now to prevent this!

The Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma
“If you cannot see God in all,
you cannot see God at all.”
“If you want to learn something, read about it. If
you want to understand something, write about
it. If you want to master something, teach it.”
“God is nothing but your own inner consciousness.
Now I will agree with you that you cannot always
feel this God, but that is because you think that you
are separate from God. We call it Maya. Maya is the
illusion of separateness: it is the quicksand of this life.
Sometimes we sink into this quicksand and then we
need a hook; we need some guidance to help us pull
ourselves out so that we can continue our journey.
The hook that we use to do this is called the Guru.”

Sikh Group Finds Calling
In Homeland Security
As reported in the New York Times
September 28, 2004
By Leslie Wayne
Espanola, NM - At the end of a dusty road, behind a barbed-wire fence, is Sikh Dharma of New Mexico, a religious compound with a Golden Temple of worship, a collection of trailers used for business and a quiet group of people wandering the grounds wearing flowing white robes and turbans.
In the New Age culture here, the Sikh Dharma community, founded in the early 1970’s, provides a place where followers of Yogi Bhajan, a Sikh spiritual leader and yoga master, can live in harmony and follow their beliefs in vegetarianism, meditation and community service. Except for Yogi Bhajan, who was born in India and came to the United States in 1969, most members of the Sikh Dharma are American-born and moved here to pursue their way of life.
The compound is also home to Akal Security, wholly owned by Sikh Dharma and one of the nation’s fastest-growing security companies, benefiting from a surge in post-9/11 business. With 12,000 employees and over $1 billion in federal contracts, Akal specializes in protecting vital and sensitive government sites, from military installations to federal courts to airports and water supply systems.
Akal Security reps with President Bush
Despite Akal’s unusual lineage, Sikh Dharma members say they are following an ancient Sikh tradition of the warrior-saint as well as showing deftness at the more modern skill of landing federal contracts.
“Our customers look at who we are and filter it all out,” Daya Singh Khalsa, Akal’s co-founder and senior vice president, said in an interview in his office here. “They couldn’t be less interested in our religion and what we look like.”
Among Sikhs “there is no stigma in being financially successful,” Mr. Khalsa added. “Prosperity does not take away from spiritual net worth. You can have both.”
Akal certainly bears that out. It is the nation’s largest provider of security officers for federal courthouses, with contracts for 400 buildings in 44 states, including the federal courthouse in Manhattan.
The company just won a major contract to guard Army bases and munitions dumps in eight states, and also provides guards for the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, blocks from the White House. It handles security at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, as well as at four new detention centers run by the Homeland Security Department where foreigners await deportation.
In the straight-laced world of the security business, where most people have a police or military background, Akal stands out. It is the only security company that anyone in the business, including Akal’s own executives, can think of that is owned by a nonprofit religious organization.
“If we are in a room with 50 other contractors, you won’t remember the other guy, but you will remember us,” said Mr. Khalsa, who wears a white turban, has a long beard and refrains from cutting his hair.
It has also not hurt that Akal has been a generous campaign contributor to both Democratic and Republican candidates at the federal level, and that Mr. Khalsa has met with President Bush both in the White House and in New Mexico. Local New Mexico politicians have also benefited from this largess - and responded with friendship and support.
Four former New Mexico governors stopped by Yogi Bhajan’s recent 75th-birthday party; Governor Bill Richardson was last year’s keynote speaker at the group’s International Peace Prayer Day.
“We play in the political arena like everyone else,” Mr. Khalsa said. He and his wife, Sat Nirmal Kaur Khalsa, who is Akal’s chief executive, have given more than $30,000 to both Democratic and Republican federal candidates since 2000.
Mr. Khalsa, who was once known as Daniel Cohn, was given his name by Yogi Bhajan after he moved here in 1971, soon after graduating from Amherst College. Like other members of the 300-family Sikh Dharma community, he has adopted the name Khalsa, which refers to a group of orthodox Sikhs.
The Sikh Dharma community here blends New Age values and orthodox Sikhism, a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of the Indian subcontinent in the 15th century.
“We are not used to non-Punjabis joining our religion; it is a curious development,” said Gurinder Singh Mann, professor of Sikh studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who explained that many of these new converts are more devout than those born into the religion.
Unlike their counterparts in India, women in Sikh Dharma wear turbans, as do some of the children. Most members of the Sikh Dharma live in modest houses near the compound and Yogi Bhajan’s ranch in Espanola, the Hacienda De Guru Ram Das Gurdwara. Yogi Bhajan has arranged many marriages within the community.
Under Akal’s biggest security contract, worth $854 million, it provides protection for federal courthouses and judges. While federal courthouse guards wear United States marshals’ uniforms in nine districts, their employer is Akal, which hires mainly former police and military officers, almost none of them Sikhs. Akal’s contract with the guards prohibits them from wearing turbans or having facial hair, unlike the company’s Sikh officials, who are required to do so by their religion.
For all the group’s unusual ways, government officials have few complaints about Akal. “Our people have done checks on them years ago and we have no issues with them,” said John Kraus, a contracting officer for the Department of Justice. “Last I’ve checked, we’ve had freedom of religion.”
One high-profile contract Akal recently garnered, beating 20 other companies, was for $250 million to provide security guards at five Army bases and three weapons depots. The Army has turned to the private sector to replace soldiers sent to Iraq.
Competition was based on ability, past performance and price, according to an Army official, who added that Akal’s religious ties were not a factor, nor did Akal benefit as a religious group.
“We do not discriminate based on race, creed, religion or national origin,” the official said. “It was never really a factor.”
Because of that open approach, Akal has almost exclusively gone after government contracts.
“The federal government has created the fairest acquisition system in the world,” Mr. Khalsa said. He added that with the company’s low overhead - Mr. Khalsa, its top executive, earns a modest $90,000 - Akal is “very price-competitive” in the eyes of government agencies on tight budgets.
Yet Ira A. Lipman, founder and chairman of Guardsmark, one of the nation’s largest security companies, is critical of the government’s low-price approach to protecting important installations.
“You have people working in highly sensitive government sites and the government is working on a low-rate concept,” Mr. Lipman said. “This company has taken advantage of a low-rate mentality in the government to assemble a lot of business. But let the buyer beware and let the public focus on the people and their experience.”
Akal is just one of several for-profit and nonprofit entities that are part of a larger Sikh Dharma financial empire. These include Golden Temple, a natural foods company that makes Yogi herbal teas, Soothing Touch health and beauty products, Peace natural cereals, dietary supplements and private-label products for Trader Joe’s, the specialty food chain. Its annual revenues exceed $60 million.
Akal and Golden Temple both operate under the loose umbrella of the Khalsa International Industry and Trading Company, which also includes Sun & Son, a computer software company.
The sole shareholder of all these companies is Sikh Dharma.
Equally important are a number of nonprofit ventures also owned by Sikh Dharma. The biggest of these is the 3HO Foundation, with the name standing for Healthy, Happy and Holy Organization. That group is dedicated to the spread of Kundalini yoga, which is focused on releasing inner energy, and of Yogi Bhajan’s teachings. Other nonprofit organizations have been set up to preserve Yogi Bhajan’s archives as well as to support a Sikh Dharma school in India, where many of the group’s children are sent.
“The whole point of all these ventures is not for an individual to get rich, but to perpetuate the mission of the community,” said Avtar Hari Singh Khalsa, who, as Arthur S. Warshaw, was once president of Time-Life Television in Hollywood. Today he is chief executive of the 3HO Foundation and other nonprofit’s.
No money from Akal, Golden Temple or the other profit-making ventures goes to the church, which is supported by donations, officials say. Sending money to the church is barred by Akal’s bankers and could also jeopardize the tax-exempt status of the church. Akal pays no dividends and plows all cash generated back into the business to support its expansion, Daya Khalsa said.
Officials here say that no individual member of the Sikh Dharma community, including Akal executives and Yogi Bhajan, has any equity in either Akal, Golden Temple or any other profit-making businesses. Yogi Bhajan has served as an unpaid Akal adviser and has been hired, occasionally, as a paid consultant on Akal management issues.
Yogi Bhajan’s guidance led to the founding of Akal. In 1980, Akal’s other co founder, Gurutej Khalsa, found that although he had graduated from several law enforcement schools, his beard and turban prevented him from getting a job. He turned to Yogi Bhajan for advice and was told that if he started his own company, the police would begin to work for him.
The Amar Infinity Foundation, based in Phoenix, is also tied in financially. It has $100 million in assets, gained mainly through individual donations and through such fund-raising events as the annual Yogiji Golf Classic in Phoenix. Amar Infinity was set up to support the 3HO Foundation, the Sikh Dharma and a long list of other nonprofit groups.
A final piece of the Sikh Dharma financial mosaic is the Siri Singh Sahib Corporation, a nonprofit organization set up, according to its state incorporation papers, to “administer and manage affairs of Sikh religion.”Yogi Bhajan is the sole officer and director.
Akal has developed a comfortable relationship with leaders of both major political parties. In Daya Khalsa’s office are numerous “grip and grin” photos of him with various politicians, including President Bush, former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.
Akal donates at the state level, too, giving $10,539 to Governor Richardson’s 2002 election campaign and thousands more to the New Mexico Democratic and Republican parties. Federal election records also show numerous political contributions to both parties from various Khalsa’s of Espanola, in amounts ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars, along with $14,000 in contributions from Yogi Bhajan.
The group has built up trust at the federal level over a long period. When questions were raised after Akal landed its first big contract in 1986 to protect the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman, a Democrat from New Mexico, rose to Akal’s defense.
“People were saying, ‘How could you let these foreign whomever’s take over a critical weapons testing site?’” Daya Khalsa recalled. “And he said that we were friends and that we’re good Americans doing a good job.”

The neutrality of a dove.
The attack of a cheetah.
The friendship of a wolf.

“Chakras are centers of activity for the reception,
assimilation and transmission of life energies.”
From ‘Wheels of Life’ by Anodea Judith, Ph. D.
BOOK REVIEW
What do you know about the Chakra System?
Many people focus on a single Chakra - like the Crown Chakra for Spirituality, the Brow Chakra for Psychic Powers, the Heart Chakra for Universal Love, the Solar Plexus for Power (especially for those into the martial arts) and so on - each Chakra’s special attribute. And some people try to repress the ”lower” Chakras as morally bad. BUT the real importance is to understand the Chakras as THE Energy System of the entire Mind-Body-Spirit Complex.
WHEELS OF LIFE presents the Chakra System as a Formula for Wholeness and a Template for Transformation - actually a Map for the Journey through Life.
At the inner core of each one of us spin seven wheel-like energy centers called “Chakras.” Swirling intersections of vital life forces, each Chakra reflects an aspect of consciousness essential to our lives. Together the seven Chakras form a system of modeling of consciousness that enables us to better see ourselves - in mind, body, behavior and culture. This system is a valuable tool for personal and planetary growth.
“Chakras are centers of activity for the reception, assimilation and transmission of life energies.”
As all our actions and understanding arise from and return to points within ourselves, our Chakras, as core centers, form the coordinating network of our complex mind-body system. The Chakras are the master programs that govern our life, loves, learning and illumination. Like a rainbow bridge, they form the connecting channel between mind and body, spirit and matter, past and future, Heaven and Earth. As we spin through the tumultuous times of our present era, the Chakras are the gears that turn the spiral of evolution, drawing our attention toward the still untapped frontiers of consciousness and its infinite potential.
“Wheels of Life” is a system about a system - journeying the reader through the seven major Chakras with theory, example, practical application and experiential exercises to accomplish the great work of personal transformation. Each consciousness is a unit in the evolutionary process moving us from what we are to what we can become, and through that process we realize ourselves as magicians, healers and visionaries.
“Wheels of Life” takes us through each Chakra to fulfill its potentials and then transforms and makes us whole.
The journey is taken step-by-step, with each step bringing practical advantages in the development of inherent skills and abilities to meet the increasingly critical challenges of life in our times. Your life is filled with meaning and purpose. Your destiny is “Enlightenment.” Now, you must take the first step. —

Gurumustuk Singh ji,
Waheguru ji ka khalsa,
Waheguru ji ki fateh!
This is a humble request. I can see on the page on SikhNet you have taken videos from
SikhiFM/EktaOne website. However, there is no recognition of their work, and there is no “Donate to
EktaOne” box. There is only SikhNet logos, and a “Donate to SikhNet” box. This seems unfair and not
very chardi kala. Please kindly give recognition, and put a “Donate to EktaOne” box. Thanks.

If you play the videos it is obvious that it is from SikhiFM.com. I am not taking credit for those
videos. I am merely trying to make them more accessable to people. The donation link is there to
allow people to support the bandwidth and hosting costs for SikhNet. You can see that the videos are
hosted on our servers so do not pose any costs to Ektaone. Anyone can download the videos off of
SikhNet and post them on their own websites. The intention is to educate people and get these
materials out there. It would be great if Ektaone downloaded and added all the videos that are now
on SikhNet and would make more options for peole. They could put a donation link there to support
Ektaone too. I have no issue with that. Seriously… I’m not trying to steal anyone’s thunder. I
really am just trying to help. If you are part of Ektaone we can discuss via email further if this
is not agreeable to you.
1.Gurumustuk Singh veerjee I think you should at least put some mention of EktaOne on the webpage
there - such as “This video is from www.EktaOne.com” for example. vaaheguroojeekaakhaalsaa

Kulpreet: as I mentioned in my previous comment, I don’t think this is necessary. If someone watches
the video it is clear that it is by SikhiFM.com which goes to EktaOne. You can see the web address
quite clear. The prime purpose for the videos is education not promotional purposes. I know some of
the people who created these videos for SikhiFM…so I am not doing this in a vacuum. If they feel I
am doing something wrong they would tell me. Are you one of the Sevadhars at EktaOne? I’m just
curious why you are so insistant on this.

Check out this freaky 3 H 0 attempt at doing a ghidda (north indian folk dance done by females) session. They r all in white, with a huge
photo of Yogi Bhajan (true sikhs don’t worship yogi bhajan, don’t have pictures of him or any other person in such a revered way except our 10 original gurus. Yu would never see this done by true indian sikhs.) d. BTW -side note, they not only have stolen some videos without credit, but
steal other information from the other, TRULY CREDIBLE Sikhi sites for sikhnet.com….right down to

year there are different types of entertainment, however one of the constants is having a show of
Punjabi Dance. Here is a video clip of some of the local Espanola Sikh women doing a few different
dances in Aug 2002. Ravi Kaur of the Bhangra Troupe “Izzat De Punjab” does some great choreography. She is the one that organizes and gets everyone together to have fun and practice these dances.’

What do you know about the strange 3HO Cult?
Someone I once knew was in the 3HO cult, but got very angry when I started asking questions about it. They are very bizarre: they are Americans who wear turbans and grow long beards, and they wear all white clothing. They worship a man called Yogi Bhajan, who is their guru. I wish I could ask this person more, but he got very mad at me “when I asked too much” - I guess they didn’t want me to find out what went on inside the cult.
Help! I’m scared for my friend! He seems so strange. He’s shoved his friends and family away. They’ve totally cut him off. They make him do all this unpaid work, and he is supposed to pay the cult a ton of money every month as a “tithe.”. His year-round house is a tent in New Mexico. He, and other followers camp outside the temple. He has almost no food or any kind of a life - he has to beg the temple kitchen to throw him some leftover food, and some days he doesn’t eat. This cult has stolen his life and his dignity! Help!
Does anyone know anything about this terrible cult??!?

Pangel - yes I know, there’s the yoga part of it, but that’s just one side of it. I’ve even done the yoga classes, and they were OK, but there is a different side of it once you get pulled WAY in - you are in a different ballgame. You have to dress like them, believe and worship like them, hand over your money, change your name…. etc…. … usual cult stuff. The yoga part is just what you see on the outer periphery - the inner part of it is very controlling and dark!
And I’m not just over-reacting. How insensitive. I’ve seen people’s lives ruined by 3HO, and my friend has given up his life, all his potential, and is having his soul sucked out of him!

the western ‘sicks’ try to bully anyone who tries to speak against the cult. isn’t that somethng? this is common on any eastern relions/yoga/sikhism/etc. forum that mentions them. if u have nothing to hide, why be so defensive?

Over the past months I have tried to post my logical, practical, non-hateful, non-offensive opinion on the way 3ho Sikhs are confusing our youth and how their teachings deviate from Sikhism.. My goal was to modestly inform the Sikh youth and public through the internet about how our youth are being greatly confused and taken away from their families. Through meeting people, listening to television shows, radio broadcasts, reading a wide range of information, using 3ho services, listening from their prayer tracks, purchasing their CDs, seeing information and learning their form of Sikhism and seeing regular Sikh I have definitely learned something. Our religion is going through one of the greatest changes any religion has ever experienced. Instead of moving forward we are moving into a mystic, counterproductive experience of Sikhism. I first thought that only a few Sikhs would be affected by this misinformation. However I have found that thousands of Sikhs and Sikh children are becoming confused in some way to some degree.
I have posted on websites like sikhnet.com, sikhsangat.com and I have not been allowed on these websites to post because I simply stated my view. Also I would like to inform you that the most popular website for Sikhs, sikhnet.com, is based at Espanola, New Mexico and always supports a 3HO Sikh agenda. On the webmaster’s blog mrsikhnet.com he even tried to tell the Sikh public that we are forgetting that Yoga was once part of our religion. Because his blog is so popular I posted my opinion only to find it deleted and I was permanently banned from the website. Their efforts are becoming successful and many mainstream Sikhs are falling into their net.
In the book titled “Sikh Identity” by Opinderjit Kaur the author explains how the 3HO lifestyle deviates from the Sikh teachings. Also she explains that the Sikh head SGPC president Tohra stated in a news report that Yogi Bhajan was never given the title of Sri Singh Sahib, the Sikh leader of the Western hemisphere. He also stated that there is no such title as the Sikh leader of the Western hemisphere. There are many teachings from 3HO which deviate from the Sikh way of life. First, Yoga is made compulsory, and the quest for enlightenment is encouraged. 3HO even teaches in books like “Yoga for Business Success” by Darshan Singh Khalsa that one can obtain spiritual powers from doing Kundalini Yoga. In the Sikh scripture is states “Inhaling, exhaling and holding the breath by the force of the mind – by empty hypocritical practices, Dharmic love for the Lord is not produced. Only through Word of the Guru’s Shabad is the sublime, supreme, essence obtained.” (Page 1043 of Guru Granth). Infact there are many quotes which support this argument. This organization is like many others which often use the Sikh holy book to encourage doing Yoga, or Meditation to attain enlightenment. In this case, enlightenment means continuously seeing and hearing inner light and sound. This is obviously not possible to any degree, and though meditation can give peace and alertness is cannot make you see continuous white or yellow light as these groups claim. Specifically Sant Mat which was once infamously known in the Punjab (area where Sikhs live in India) as the Rhadasoami group has claimed that they can show people inner light and they have confused many people and may have even ruined lives. For information on this cult go to (knowthyselfassoul.org) and ruhanisatsangusa.org.
Other practices of 3HO are also notable. In the Yogi Bhajan lecture archive on sikhnet.com Mr. Bhajan would encourage people to give offerings like Pizzas to Guru Ram Das. Many 3HO members admit that they worship Guru Ram Das by giving him objects and this has never been a form of worship in Sikhism. Sikhs have only worshipped God. Also 3HO encourages people to become strict vegetarians in order to save “Karma”, and to wear only white in order to be holy. As long as there has been Sikhism Sikhs did not have to wear only white in order to follow their religion. In Sikhism the singing of religious hymns is suppose to be done using traditional instruments. 3HO members like Snatam Kaur (snatamkaur .com) and Guru Ganesha (a-healing.com/gugasi.html) say things like “I give my heart to you Guru Ram Das.” and consistently focus their music on this particular Guru. However there were 10 human Gurus who were all equal and one holy scripture which by title is considered a Guru as well. The holy scripture for the Sikhs the Guru Granth Sahib holds the title as the current Guru of the Sikhs as it holds the teachings from all ten of the Sikh Gurus.
Also 3HO has introduced new mantras which have never been part of Sikhism, or even Hinduism. When I ask many people from India whose Grandparent’s where Sikhs they have never even heard of these mantras. When Snatam Kaur does her worldwide tours she comes to Sikh Gurdwaras and instructs the audience to chant these mantras instead of chanting the normal Waheguru which is the only mantra that Sikhs chant.
I think that this information is important for people to know because many Sikhs and other people are being taken away from their families because of organization like these. Some people are learning about Sikhism and converting to “Sikhism” after being Kundalini Yoga teachers when Sikhism is not associated with Yoga is any way. So many innocent, Americans, Canadians, and Sikhs are becoming confused and following teachings which are not what they claim to be.
You can learn a lot about Sikh Dharma of the Western Hemisphere (the teachings which deviate from original Sikhism) from Google Books search for the book Identity of Sikhism, pages 158-177). Most of these pages are available online at Google Books. Also note that Power Broker magazine has counted Bhajan among ‘New Mexico’s Top 100’ influential business people. An excerpt of the article is available on page 160. Also in a lecture on www.mrsikhnet.com’s audio archive by Mr. Bhajan he explains specific details of the tenth Sikh Guru. The real details which he describe are actually unknown and cannot be confirmed. Yet “Yogi” Bhajan described the Guru’s height, diet, and stated that he could spin a sword around so fast that no arrow could hit him. This is actually true and can be found in the audio archive on www.mrsikhnet.com
In conclusion, 3HO is confusing our youth and altering our religion. From this website I have become educated on the true facts of Yogi Bhajan which I wish many Sikhs knew. He told a women from his yoga class (http://www.rickross.com/reference/3ho/3ho83.html) “In fact, the sex was never presented or regarded as a part of any religion or religious experience. It was only later, when I asked him to reconcile his role as a professed, celibate religious leader with the fact he was having sex with more than one woman, that he put a religious gloss on the sex. He said he was actually living three lives in one, and that I was his spiritual wife in one of the lives..” Many Sikhs have believed Yogi Bhajan to ba a Siri Singh Sahib of their religion. This is the like one rank below the Head of the religion the Jathedar. To help one further understand this rank may be seen as the equivalent of a Archbishop in Christianity who is seen as below the Pope. When I learnt of this scandal I became really shocked and upset. I felt this way because Mr. Bhajan claimed to have such a high rank in our religion and so many people believed in. When in reality he had taken part in scandals which would have never allowed him to receive this religious title in reality. The title “Sri Singh Sahib” is a real religious title which some have earned authentically for example Prof. Darshan Singh.
Also I strongly feel that though Yogi Bhajan has died the 3HO cult is still active and affecting Americans, Canadians and Sikhs throughout the world. One can practice their beliefs but they should have their own distinctive name. This way people would not be confused as they are currently still claiming Bhajan’s teachings that they are following are the original form of Sikhism though they do not comply with the original Sikhism.
this girl also was a former 3ho, but has woke up from the horror, and have a great blog about it -

These are good steps Prabhsharandeep Singh indicated, but questioned why more was not being done in isolating those who continue to support Kala-Afghana and the Spokesman editor. He also questioned why the Jathedars attended a function organized by the 3HO, which he stated was as a cult. “During the function, which was broadcast by SikhNet, Jathedar Sahib referred to Yogi Bhajan as ‘Sri Singh Sahib’”, Prabhsharandeep Singh strongly protested. “How can the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib refer to anyone with that title? There is no precedence of it in Sikh history for anyone having such a title” he later added. Not expecting this line of questioning, the Jathedars were taken aback. Out of embarrassment Jathedar Vendati kept his head lowered when questioned.

Rick Ross manipulates information and makes money off of so-called “cult busting.” His list of “frauds” includes many of the world’s most highly respected yoga teachers. Yogi Bhajan was human for sure, and it’s wise to question what you hear and read, but question it from all ways. Rick Ross is not at all an unbiased source of information, nor an accurate one.
Yea, right…..sounds like we have another sucker in the making! it’s not just rick ross sweety…..it’s incredible how many e 3ho-ers there are, and even when panthic.org mentions it being a cult and yogi bhajan being a fraud, you’re a bit outnumbered!

3ho.org/events/yoga-retreat.html#rates
Yogi Bhajan was not only the Master of Kundalini Yoga, but also held a position of distinction in the Sikh religion. His title was The Siri Singh Sahib and he served as the Chief Administrative Authority for Sikhs in the Western Hemisphere.
‘The Sikh lifestyle shares elements of the technology of Kundalini Yoga. Sikhs grow their hair, cover their heads, are vegetarians, and do not use any substances such as alcohol or tobacco. As recommended, many wear white clothing, which is a combination of all colors (spin a color wheel and see white)! White enhances the aura and strengthens the magnetic field. Being in this environment offers participants a chance to experience this aspect of the technology. Because of this, you will see a lot of people wearing turbans and white clothing.
*Body workers and healers must be licensed by the State of Florida. (body workers? u mean prostitutes?)
Sadhana: You are invited to participate in Sadhana or “daily practice.” Each morning we begin at 3:45 am with Japji (prayer reading), followed by 45 minutes of Kundalini Yoga, 62 minutes of meditation (to live music) and a short Gurdwara service. Yogi Bhajan gave this specific sadhana as a powerful personal tool during the transition from the Piscean to the Aquarian Age.
WHITE TANTRIC???? KARMA YOGA????
whitetantricyoga.com/
anyone with any sort of IQ - sikh, hindu, or whatever, knows this is bull!
from the website sikhkaras.com -
5. Why are the costs for these SikhKaras so much higher than for standard Indian Karas?
All our SikhKaras are made to the highest quality standards. SikhKaras with even the tiniest flaw get discarded or reworked before going out to the customer. This high level of quality results in much higher production costs.
6. Is it okay for Non-Sikhs to wear a SikhKara?
Yes, definitely it is. The Kara is a universal symbol of the totality of God; free for everybody to use. Any Sikh who will see the SikhKara on you will be happy and proud that you choose to wear it.
7. What is the difference between wearing an iron/sarbhloh and a stainless steel SikhKara?
The Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan used to wear a simple stainless steel Kara himself, and this was argument enough for me to wear a steel Kara. However, my partner Parvinder Singh likes to wear an iron Kara and this is what he has to say:
Iron has magnetic power and receives the energy coming through the Root Chakra. This energy is basic, pure and impeccable. Iron, as a natural metal, has an electromagnetic field which is capable of storing this energy and reflecting it back to us when we need to bring balance to our physical and spiritual health. It heals the subconscious mind, helps to strengthen the heart Charka and to have a blissful experience of the soul.
8. Why to wear the SikhKara on the left or right arm?
As what we learned from SSS Yogi Bhajan men should wear the Kara on the right hand and women on the left. He says that balances the dominating hemispheres of the brain accordingly. Guru Dev Singh (Sat Nam Rasayan) wears two Karas on the same hand. He says that that helps you to stay connected to yourself when you do a lot of healing work.
The Indian Nihangs wear their Karas on both arms as the see themselves as not man and not woman, but as creation of God. That way both hemispheres are being balanced. Some Sikhs also believe that you should wear the Kara on the hand you use the most as it reminds you not to do anything unjust with that hand.
In the end, I suggest that you try it out for yourself and wear it on the hand it feels better for you.
this thread is about a western girl who got into kundalini yoga, n wants to wear a kara. many sikhs who posted think it’s ok, and not only support her but supoort the 3ho as well -

Hi. I am a non Sikh, but practice Kundalini Yoga and have read and believe msot of the Sikh religion. I do not plan on becoming baptized. Is it offensive to anyone if I wear a kara? I know that I have read that it is not really a kara unless it is blessed and given to you, but I believe the deep spiritual meaning that it has. I don’t want to offend anyone. Is this okay? Sat Nam!

5 Kakaars have a lot of meaning which in themselves could take a lifetime to understand - just like Gurbani. Hence i agree with the sentiments of what the previous members have advised but would add put as much effort as possible into the understanding of Gurbani as this will give you the true meaning of the Kara.
Also have a read of:
http://www.mrsikhnet…m-barnat-sumat/
as it might help in the learning of both Jaap Sahib which is soo beautiful for your soul, as well as develop yourself physically.

I personally do not think it’s okay. If we make an excemption, before long everyone will be wearing it and it’ll loose it meaning. All the 5’ks should be modelled on a proper Sikh.
Our community is also facing a problem due to non sikhs wearing our symbols and then doing silly things. It ends up giving our community a bad name.

I think you shouldn’t wear a kara at all. A lot of Sikhs do get offended when non-sikhs (especially Hindus and Muslims) wear karas. Check out a thread called “can moneh wear karas” out. You will see what I am talking about here.

Its quite stoopid really though - its our Sangaths fault for allowing Kar’eh to be sold at shops etc as if their ANY OLD ITEM - no wonder Muslims and Hindus go about wearin them - a Kara has more meaning to it that than just a “steel bangle”.
The thread- starter says that they are non-Sikh- and do NOT plan on being baptized - then WHY ARE YOU PLANNIN ON WEARIN ONE???! Just becuase you do Kundalini Yoga doesnt mean that you have the right to go abot wearin a Kakaar.
^^ I sound really in-your-face there lol am not being moody about the situation but I don’t think you should wear one - you got no reason to wear one. I understand that you have read into this Religion and the spiritual meaning of the Kara but why just wear it about - it aint a fashion-item.#
I also get the feeling that MOST other faithed people wear a Kara or want a Kara becuase they see a Kara like they see that ‘budda’ u know the laughin budda that people keep in their house…messed up

kara only has a meaning to a sikh, if you aren’t a sikh, its just a bangle then. and the lady understands that, so i see no harm in wearing one. it wouldn’t be offensive to me at all because unless you are a baptised sikh, its really not a kara :)

to be honest shops dnt usually sell sarbloh karas, what they sell they promote as kareh but are in fact just bangles! theres a millions of non-sikhs who respect sikhi and believe in different parts of it such as the circle of life represented by the kara, the bhenji is not offending any1 by wearing it and it seems like shes getting interested in the religion, who are we then to say she cant?!

okay i understand that but what am sayin is that when and IF she does wear a Kara, and she’s standing their people gona be like “wow what is that” you know you get people asking like what is it? I don’t want this person to go about wearin it as something to get attention (I know thats not the reason so scuse me :) )but when people see someone else wearin something different to them, they want to wear it too. Like I said before, the whole laughin budda thing is the same thing, you see that loads of people keep them in their houses especially ghor’eh - they think its brings “luck” or wuteva - I bet the MAJORITY of Buddists..or is it Hindus? I duno which one but who ever it relates to would probably find it offensive.
Personally, am offended by people who wear OTHER Religious items, point is why pick at a religion on the bits that you find easy or more flexible to follow? Why just take the Kara and be like “Yeah I get the Spiritual meaning of it - i’ll wear it permanant” You cant pick and mix with a Religion.
So overally, I don’t accept people wearing a Kara or any other Religious article that they don’t REALLY follow - stick to your own.

Also, KARA was here ages before sikhism. ANYBDY can wear it. I know it has some special meaning in sikhi….but that doest mean it belongs ONLY to sikhs……OPEN YOUR MIND singho.

kara only has a meaning to a sikh, if you aren’t a sikh, its just a bangle then. and the lady understands that, so i see no harm in wearing one. it wouldn’t be offensive to me at all because unless you are a baptised sikh, its really not a kara :)
That makes some sense….

i agree, everyone has the right to wear a kara. I think of it this way for a sikh. With the 5 K’s, the more you have the better it is. Just because we might not be at the same level, by wearing a kara you a taking a step up. lol if u get what i mean.

My dear friend it is not things you should go on collecting. There is nothing except bani.
having kesh and not reciting bani is also useless.
Sikh is one who recites bani daily, without bani whether you wear kara or Not, you are not sikh.
Bani changes a Human to sikh. kara doesnt.
There is nothing except bani, bani is the only Truth. 5 K without reciting bani are useless.
So if you want to come closer to sikhi start to listen to some bani. Just start to say Vaheguru when you crosses a day, As doing so will slowly start love for Sikhi and Hence Akal.

The kara reminds us to always remember god in all that we do….how is it wrong for a non-Sikh to wear a kara if it will help them remember god in all they do? Sikhism is such an open, inviting religion, and you aren’t doing anything to help people see that. who knows, this may be the first step in her journey to actually take amrit. She may not be prepared now but it could to that. Way to welcome people into sikhi. sikhi isn’t about what you wear, its how you live your life.

I disagree.
The Kara in simple terms is an iron bracelet. Braclets have been used in many cultures across the world.
Kirpan is the name given to the type of shaster that is carried by Sikhs. But I know of patthans (muslims), who carry shaster with them, just like a kakkar.
You can’t say that 1 particular kakkar is only for Sikhs, as described, other cultures do require to wear bracelets, shaster etc, but you can say that the 5 kakkar that are worn together is a unique identity for a Sikh. If that makes sense!
Just my personal opinion.

I think its perfectly acceptable for the original poster to wear a karra. She believes in Sikhi but is not baptized. Well I believe in Sikhi but I haven’t taken amrit either, should I remove my karra? Although I’ve been brought up as a Sikh from childhood but that doesn’t make me any different from the OP does it? :)

bracelet that word sums up ur whole view point. a kara is not just a bracelet. i suppose a kachera are just a pair of shorts for u aswell. a kara is a kakkar. and shud be treated as such its not just for anyone/everyone to wear but carries responsibilities and identity with it. if every1 wore 1 as they have started doing its significance wud diminish. bracelet….bloody hell man

In 2010 Yogi Tea was sued by Yogi Bhajan’s widow Bibiji Inderjit Kaur Puri[1], and the State of Oregon [2]. The suits allege that trusted advisers of the Yogi had forged documents regarding to their take-over of the company, exclusion of the family from the board and the abandonment of what Bibiji describes as orthodox Sikh practices.[1]
notice the similarities between these people and 3ho? there are many westerners who take indian names, pretend to follow what they perceive as indian inspired culture and religious beliefs, use initials for their group, both from ‘religious leaders’ who brought the ‘faiths’ to the west. they wear eastern dress…saris for iskcon, salwar kameezes and dastaar (turban) for 3ho. often they even sound similar in how they talk…

Notes on spiritual names
Devotees usually receive a spiritual name from their guru at initiation, consisting of a name of Krishna, a great devotee of Krishna, or an aspect of the spiritual world, coupled with “Das”. Devotees usually also have a different legal name. Some devotees, for example second-generation devotees, may have a spiritual legal name because their parent gave them one. Gurus usually give a spiritual name related to a devotees legal name, at least the first letter, for example “Melanie” could be initiated as “Manjula Dasi”.
“Das” means servant. “Dasa” is the masculine, and “Dasi” is the feminine. “Dasa” is pronounced “Das”. Sometimes devotees use “Das”, sometimes “das”, and sometimes “dasa” or “dasi”.
So, all devotees are named as servants of Krishna, or servants of servants of Krishna. If you are writing an article, and wish to shorten a devotee’s name, it is clearer to use their first name rather than “Das” - all devotees are ‘someone Das’, so to refer to just “Das” is rather like referring to someone as just “Mr”. Devotees usually address each other as “Prabhu” (master), by first name, or both first name then “prabhu”. Women are usually referred to as “Mataji” (honoured mother), or as “Mother” then first name.
“Swami” also means master, but is more honourific than “prabhu”, and is the title given to sannyasis (advanced renunciates). Sannyasis are also often addressed as “Maharaja” (literally ‘great king’).
In formal communications, devotees names are preceded by “His/Her Grace”. Gurus and sannyasis names are prefixed by “His Holiness” (female gurus are rare). Single male monks’ names are sometimes suffixed by “bramachari”, and married men by “adhikari” to denote their ashram (stage in life).
if you listen to the way these people act and speak ‘spiritually’, you will start to find they have much in common with the 3ho’s.
